Some Strawberry Picking

This past holiday weekend, my boys and I headed out on the open road. We packed up the car and took a leisurely drive down Highway 1 and made our way towards Santa Cruz. It was such a gorgeous ride. Driving along the coast stopping to watch the waves crash against the shore is an experience not many can have. Along the way, we saw a sign leading up to a farm where you can go and pick your own organic strawberry. Since the lil man is in LOVEEEE with strawberries, we decided it would be fun to pull over. The Swanton Berry Farm seemed to be a very popular spot. Many already came prepared with their tubberware and baking dishes to load up their goods. After a slight hike to the growing areas, we went down one row of strawberries and showed the lil man how to go about pulling a strawberry off the stem. After a very quick tutorial, he pretty much got the drift. He was off picking and puting them in his basket. We could tell he was in heaven. After he successfully filled up two green cartons of strawberries, we decided to head back and pay for our loot. The nice part about this place was that there was a spot where you can wash them off near the parking lot. It was a good thing to because the strawberries barely made it to the car. He demanded to eat them then and there and so we did. It was such a great experience to see where your fruit is grown, pick them, wash them, eat them and all within 30 minutes!! I would definitely recommend visiting this berry farm. Check out their website to see what other produce they have to offer.

Newborn Casting Call

About a week ago, I visited Etsy.com and purchased a pattern to knit a baby cocoon. I am so excited about this upcoming project. I hope to complete this knitting item within the month and would love to have a little one wear it in an upcoming photo shoot. I only have a few reqests – baby must be between birth and 3 weeks of age, photograph at my home studio in Santa Clara, Ca and be willing to sign a model release. As a token of my gratitude, I will provide you with an 8×10 print of your choice from the session. Additional prints can also be purchased at a discounted rate.

Giving is Awesome!

It has been a hard year for a lot of people. The financial crisis. Job layoffs. The list is sadly long.

You know someone. You know someone who’s experienced a tragedy, is struggling to stay afloat, is raising kids while holding down more than one job, or is volunteering selflessly despite extenuating personal circumstances. You know someone who can’t afford custom photography, but who would cherish it this holiday season. You know someone who deserves a year-round reminder of their family’s spirit, love, and beauty.

Costumes have arrived

The girls participating in the Nutcracker for the City of Santa Clara picked up their costumes this week. We took cast pictures at Central Park in Santa Clara and fortunately it did not rain but it was sure cold. Hats off to Miss Kimberly, Miss Robin and Miss Mary for keeping everything organized.

I hope to work on the images this weekend and post a sneak-peak tomorrow.
